Since this is my first poem of note
I’ll explain why I’m choosing to write what I wrote
In my days of walking in mountains of glory
I see some rare sights let me tell you my story
Of groundhog so chunky he waddled across roads
As I drove up Elk Mountain to someone’s abode
And then there were turkeys one two look there’s three
One spreading its feathers to make sure I’d see
Where they ate & watched & gobbled and walked
It was truly impressive the look of this flock
I walked in the mornings the nights and the noons
I got to see sunrises sunsets and moons
Always with companions the most loyal buddies
Yellow lab Shepard mix berniedoodle so muddy
Puppies and seniors and primes of their lives
All excited to greet me every time I arrive
They fill up my soul with the love that they share
So I give it right back because that’s only fair
We go out and walk we see deer we see bear
Don’t overreact try not to be scared
And that’s how I fill my day after day
At least that’s how I did it last week anyway
I’ll keep filling you in and I hope you enjoy
These tales of my week as I self employ
To bring smiling faces to girl and to boy
Would bring me so much everlasting joy
